Atomic Reactions & RI's Pentagon Keynesians with Dr. Peter Nightingale

URI Emeritus Professor of Physics on Risks of Proliferation, Campus-Based Reactor, Sen. Reed's Record, Sen. Whitehouse's Nuclear Power Stupidities

Dr. Peter Nightingale, the Emeritus Professor of Physics at the University of Rhode Island, is long known for habituating the various protests, picket lines, and demonstrations throughout the state, perhaps most frequently in the last decade regarding climate change. But he also brings a deeper knowledge of the state’s current affairs into discussion as with regards to nuclear energy since the URI campus hosts a reactor.

As we shall describe in this video, Rhode Island plays a very tiny yet pivotal role on the Eastern Seaboard within the War Economy. Sen. Jack Reed, mentored by the late Sen. Claiborne Pell, is a classic Pentagon Keynesian, one who targets public expenditure towards the munitions industry in a public-private partnership setup so to increase levels of demand in the local economy. Recently on the local bus advertising screens and booths, it has been easy to espy a hiring notice for Electric Boat, the submarine military contractor out of Quonset and Groton, CT.

Our discussion is wide-ranging and includes a deep discussion of physics in producing nuclear weaponry, something that is both technical and yet very important to grasp. But don’t worry, this isn’t a nerd-fest; stick around for Dr. Nightingale and I discussing how brilliant Weldon is.
